Frasier Theme (Country Grammer Remix) by Kelsey Grammer from the album: Midi Song of The Day

This is huge! Not to be outdone by his brother, Kelsey Grammer HIMSELF sent me his remix (the country grammer version) of the midi Frasier theme, complete with soundclips from The Frasier himself! Attached to the midi cassette was a note in Kelsey’s handwriting (I’d recognize it anywhere) reading “Of course this song is the best. I made it. It made me. God I’m great.”  This track is the perfect song to toss salad and scramble eggs to. It’s also great to have sex to.

The Theme From Cheers by Carl Grammer from the album: Midi Song of the Day

Since there was no update on Memorial day, I’m giving you guys a special treat. It is a midi version of the theme from “Cheers” with vocals done by Carl Grammer, the brother of Cheers star Kelsey Grammer, ( aka The Frasier). I hope things work out with your family Carl, I know they sure didn’t with my wife and kids…. Kids, if you’re reading this, daddy is still trying to get visitation rights!

The Cure - Friday I'm In Love by Dawson Domus from the album: Midi Song of the Day

The Cure - Friday I’m In Love

No, The Cure, I’m the one who’s in love….with this song! This is a great midi-rendition by famed Midi composer Dawson Domus (we’ll be interviewing Domus and several other Midi composers in the coming weeks). Domus’ unique choices are really what separates this from all the many other Midi covers of “Friday I’m In Love”. For instance, his bold choice to add the sound of a car horn going off that starts halfway through the song and doesn’t stop…it’s sheer experimental brilliance! Also, around the crescendo, listen for when he switches from KORG Input 42 (Funky Synth) to KORG Input 78 (Honky-Tonk Harpsichord)…..my heart skips a beat. If only human beings had metronomes instead of hearts….Oh look at me, getting all philosophical again. Perhaps the Cure’s “Friday I’m In Love” will be the cure for your case of the fridays. Ciao!

MIDI Camptown Races by Devin Scanlon from the album: MIDI Song of the Week

-Camptown Races

Far beyond just another track to listen to at the races as you sip a mint julep, “Camptown Races” depicts a yearning to escape life’s often trivial race. Just who are the Camptown ladies, and why are they singing this song? The ambiguity suggest a magnanimity that pierces through the veil of southern culture, and by the time you get to the last “do dah day!” you are left groveling for more. With summer 2011 all about the folk revival, look for this jaunt to get big in the coming months.
